The tulip basket

Your tulip basket, start to finish.

We've built over a thousand tulip basket rings. Every diamond shape, every style, every variation you can imagine. And after all of them, we still get excited every single time. Here is what you need to know to get started.

Step one

First, pick your diamond shape.

First things first. Pick your diamond shape. The tulip basket works with any shape, round, oval, emerald, cushion, pear, marquise. Whatever you are drawn to, we can build a tulip basket around it. Not sure what shape is right for you? That is something we love figuring out together.

The 4 petal

The first is the 4 petal tulip. With 4 petals, we always add a hidden halo underneath. It is not just for looks, the hidden halo is what holds everything together and gives the setting its support.

The 6 petal

The second is the 6 petal tulip. With 6 petals, you have the extra support built right in, so no hidden halo needed. This is actually our most popular setting. Both are stunning, and the diamond shape you pick will help us figure out which one is right for you.

Why I love it

From above, your diamond is the star. But underneath, there is a hidden flower detail that makes the ring completely unique to you.

That is actually my favourite way to design rings. Keep the top clean and timeless, but hide all the personality underneath. That way your ring never goes out of style, but it is still entirely yours.

Clint's favourite additions

Make it a little more yours.

Split shank

One of my favourite things to add to a tulip basket is a split shank. Unlike a cathedral setting where the band just stops abruptly, the split shank flows naturally right up into the petals. It just makes so much more sense visually. Once you see it you cannot unsee it.

Leaf prongs detail

Leaf prongs

The other detail I love is leaf prongs. Unless someone takes a really close look at your ring, they will not even notice them. But when they do, it is such a great talking point. Just another small way we personalized your ring and made it a little more yours.

A variation

The half petal tulip.

You can also do half petals on a tulip basket. It is a beautiful variation, though not right for every diamond. Drop us a note and we will let you know if it works for yours.
